Research project studying the effects of chronic heavy drinking on monocytes and the impact of abstinence and relapse, using advanced biological assays to find drug targets.
Description
This project aims to investigate the persistent functional, transcriptional, and epigenetic changes in circulating monocytes induced by chronic heavy drinking (CHD) and how these changes are affected by abstinence and relapse. The study leverages a rhesus macaque model and employs multiplex ELISA, flow cytometry, single-cell omics, and metabolic assays. The goal is to identify potential drug targets to reduce alcohol cravings and organ damage.
