Translating Research into Practice on Alcohol and Polysubstance Use Disorders by Educating the Interprofessional Primary Care Team

This award funds a project to educate primary care teams on evidence-based practices for alcohol and polysubstance use disorders using virtual education methods to improve healthcare outcomes.

Description

The project aims to improve public health by addressing the research-practice gap in the translation of evidence-based practices for alcohol use disorder (AUD) and polysubstance use disorders in primary care. It seeks to enhance the capacity of primary care providers at federally qualified health centers and safety net settings to implement best practices for prevention, screening, and treatment of AUD and related disorders through virtual continuing education strategies including Project ECHO cohorts, Science to Practice sessions, and eLearning modules. The project anticipates educating 670 providers to improve their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and self-efficacy, and increase engagement with scientific literature.
