Description

The project aims to develop a novel vascular niche platform for the expansion of blood stem cells to enhance engraftment and regeneration following myeloablative treatments. It focuses on the pro-HSC factor Netrin-1 (NTN1) to improve ex vivo expansion and in vivo engraftment of human hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs), support vascular function during hematopoietic recovery, and identify candidate pro-HSC angiocrine factors from human endothelial cells. The goal is to expand the availability of suitable donors for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and improve patient outcomes, including underserved populations.
