Research project studying how chronic TMD pain affects drinking behavior using virtual reality and ecological assessments to inform interventions reducing alcohol-related harm.

Description

This project aims to determine the effect of pain on drinking topography in heavy drinkers with and without chronic temporomandibular disorder (TMD) pain in both laboratory and daily life settings. Using ecological momentary assessment (EMA) and the INTACT VR platform, the study will assess how pain influences drinking behavior and identify modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors to optimize interventions for reducing alcohol-related harm.
