The award supports a project to develop sustainable, community-informed depression prevention programs tailored for neurodivergent college students, using longitudinal studies and community collaboration, while integrating prevention science training into undergraduate education.

Description

This project aims to lay the foundation for sustainable and community-informed prevention programming for incoming neurodivergent college students, with the long-term goal of reducing the substantial public health burden of depression on college campuses. Our approach leverages an ongoing longitudinal cohort study, adding three new data collection waves to address novel etiological hypotheses, a community-research partnership, and qualitative focus groups to inform development of tailored prevention programming. The project creates research opportunities and embeds sustainable and applied prevention science training into the undergraduate curriculum, supporting undergraduate pursuit of healthcare careers.
