Description

The NINDS Biospecimen Core Facility was established in February 2023 in a newly renovated laboratory space, Room 2N104, located in Building 10. The repository stores, maintains, and distributes samples from more than 15 different NINDS protocols and collects and processes clinical samples from 12 ongoing studies. It has accessioned and processed over 37,838 individual biological specimens for research use. The repository supports various NINDS investigators by providing technical research services including SIMOA assays, Seahorse assays for mitochondrial function, and multicolor flow cytometry. The repository aims to continue providing high-quality technical services and plans to expand service offerings, including DNA extraction from peripheral blood and developing a website to showcase its mission and procedures.
