Implementation determinants and community-based prevention for cardiometabolic disease in Mozambique: a pilot study

A pilot study to research implementation determinants for integrated care of type II diabetes, hypertension, and HIV in Mozambique, including community-based nutritional education to improve diet and prevent cardiometabolic disease.

Description

This project leverages data from ongoing R01, UG3/UH3, and intramural grants to conduct formative research into implementation determinants for integrating type II diabetes care into HIV and hypertension care cascades, and to explore whether community-based nutritional education can improve diet, a well-established contributor to cardiometabolic disease risk. The research will inform efforts to strengthen cardiometabolic care by building on successes and existing assets within the health system, as well as community-based interventions for preventing cardiometabolic disease, while providing opportunities for the F31 candidate to gain expertise in new methods and advance as an independent investigator.
