Description
This research aims to elucidate how glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) regulate platelet production and identify targets for new therapies for thrombocytopenic conditions. The study focuses on non-saccharide GAG mimetics (NSGMs), synthetic compounds that mimic GAG structure and function, with a particular focus on G4.2, a flavonoid-based NSGM that enhances megakaryopoiesis and thrombopoiesis. The project will determine the interaction of G4.2 with G6b-B at the molecular level, evaluate its selectivity, and generate analogs to understand structure-function relationships. These studies aim to validate G6b-B as a drug target and identify new therapeutic targets.
