SRC Project

The University of New Mexico (UNM) is the government buyer for this award, specifically for the Student Residence Center (SRC) located on the UNM main campus. Piping installation involves excavation, backfill, compaction, and replacement of existing improvements such as concrete curb, gutter, sidewalks, asphalt paving, and landscaping to match existing grades. The piping materials specified include PVC (AWWA C900, NSF 61 certified), CPVC (Schedule 80), and PEX-a tube for smaller sizes, with approved equivalents. Valve requirements specify ball, gate, or butterfly valves depending on pipe size, with pressure reducing valves of brass construction using lead-free materials. Insulation materials include calcium silicate or rigid molded cellular glass. The contractor must provide warning marking tape and locator tracer wire, install piping at minimum 36 inches depth with 4 inches clearance, and provide pipe anchors, supports, and transition fittings. The system must pass a water pressure test at 1.5 times max operating pressure or 100 psig for 2 hours with minimal pressure drop, and be disinfected per AWWA C651 with bacteriological samples submitted before service. The contractor must minimize utility downtime to 6 hours and complete the project within 45 calendar days from Notice to Proceed, with liquidated damages of $200 per day for overruns.
