NIH grant awarded to Duke University for research on cell volume regulation mechanisms in zebrafish notochord, relevant to spine biology and intervertebral disc disease.
Description
Research project investigating cellular and physiological mechanisms regulating cell volume and cell integrity in notochord vacuolated cells and in vacuolated cells from the nucleus pulposus of intervertebral discs (IVD) using zebrafish as a model. The study aims to understand spine biology and IVD disease through genetic, cell biological, physiological, and quantitative in vivo and ex vivo approaches.
