Research project studying the impact of chronic health conditions on fertility among women, using mixed methods including longitudinal data and qualitative interviews, funded by NICHD.

Description

The proposed research aims to provide insight into the relationship between chronic health conditions occurring early in the life course and fertility patterns, including the mechanisms through which these processes are connected. The study will improve demographic knowledge of population fertility by understanding fertility goals, timing, and achievement in the context of chronic health conditions, especially as maternal age at birth increases in the U.S. This project will train the applicant in methodological tools and professional skills necessary to complete the research and develop into a social demographer studying the intersection of health and fertility.
