NIH funded project to develop new glioblastoma therapies by reprogramming macrophages and targeting glioma stem cells using BACE1 inhibitors and BMX kinase inhibitors to improve treatment outcomes.

Description

This project aims to develop a novel therapeutic strategy by reprogramming tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and targeting glioma stem cells (GSCs) to improve glioblastoma treatment. The study focuses on reprogramming TAMs from tumor-promoting to tumor-suppressive states using BACE1 inhibitors and targeting BMX kinase with ibrutinib to suppress GSC tumorigenic potential, enhancing macrophage phagocytosis of tumor cells and inhibiting tumor growth.
