This NIH-funded project investigates early intervention with broadly neutralizing antibodies at ART initiation to reduce the HIV-1 reservoir and enhance adaptive immune responses, aiming to inform future HIV cure strategies.

### Description

Delivery of broadly neutralizing antibodies against HIV at the time of antiretroviral therapy initiation can enable immune-mediated control of HIV infection in some people living with HIV after therapy is stopped. This project aims to perform mechanistic and discovery-based strategies to understand how this therapeutic strategy affects the long-lived HIV reservoir and improves HIV-specific immune responses in some individuals but not others. The research will focus on defining phenotypic, functional, and transcriptomic features of adaptive T cell immune responses modulated by broadly neutralizing antibody treatment, understanding how the HIV reservoir is differentially modulated after prolonged ART, and assessing the ability of CD8+ T cells to mediate viral control using a humanized mouse model.
