Description
The North East Florida Educational Consortium (NEFEC) requests Sole Source approval to secure lodging and meeting space at the Residence Inn Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol for the BSIS Civics Capitol Complex Workshop, scheduled for February 10–13, 2026. This workshop, funded by the Florida Department of Education’s Bureau of Standards and Instructional Support (BSIS) Civics Grant, aims to strengthen civics education and engagement statewide through targeted professional learning. The Residence Inn was chosen for its consistent service, responsiveness, and experience hosting Florida DOE events. Its location near the Capitol complex and other workshop sites provides convenient access and reduces transportation needs. The hotel also offers charter bus parking and will honor the state per diem rate during the legislative session. This partnership will ensure a professional setting for educators and DOE staff to collaborate and participate in training, meetings, and tours that support the Civics Workshop’s goals.
