The award funds the development and validation of VIPCare, a software tool integrating EHR data to improve follow-up care management for cancer patients, expanding from prostate cancer to other solid tumors with clinical validation and scalability testing at major cancer centers.
Description
This project aims to validate a software tool that supports providers by automatically tracking cancer patients in follow-up care, ensuring patients are not lost to follow-up and are supported through follow-up care for better outcomes and efficient use of clinic resources. The project builds on the successful development of VIPCare for prostate cancer, which classifies patients' current care states and provides guideline-based follow-up recommendations. The Phase II activities include EHR integration, clinical validation, and scalability testing at multiple institutions, including Dana-Farber/Brigham Cancer Center, Northwestern University’s Lurie Cancer Center, and University of Illinois Cancer Center. Expected outcomes include readiness for real-time, in-clinic testing across various cancer types.
