Research project funded by NIAMS to study the role of HSATII RNA in the pathogenesis of FSHD, focusing on molecular mechanisms and potential biomarkers for diagnosis and therapy.

Description

Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is caused by mis-expression of DUX4, leading to activation of embryonic transcriptional programs and repetitive sequences. This project aims to understand the role of HSATII RNA in FSHD pathogenesis, focusing on the formation of ribonucleoprotein complexes and regulatory mechanisms.
