Description
Generating hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in vitro represents a central aim in regenerative biology due to their significant therapeutic potential for the treatment of blood diseases, including leukemia and lymphomas. In vitro derivation of HSCs for use in the clinic still remains challenging, in part due to incomplete understanding of the steps leading to blood development in vivo. This proposal aims to use next-generation molecular recording technologies to shed light on the biology of developmental hematopoiesis, focusing on the origin, molecular drivers, and extrinsic triggers of the process, with the overarching aim of informing and improving strategies for HSC derivation in vitro.
