Description

This project aims to develop and evaluate a biodegradable, highly tunable polymeric solid implant (PSI) for HIV treatment. The goal is to create an ultra-long-acting implant that provides sustained release of antiretroviral drugs, increasing adherence and efficacy in HIV management. The research involves designing small-sized implants (1-4 cm long) with high drug content (up to 85 wt%), utilizing modeling efforts for formulation development, and testing in macaque models infected with RT-SHIV to assess safety and efficacy.
