A randomized controlled trial studying the effects of resistance training and bisphosphonate use on bone density and quality in older adults undergoing weight loss.

Description

This project is a 12-month, 2x2 factorial randomized controlled trial to compare the effects of resistance training (RT) plus bone loading exercises and bisphosphonate use on bone density, quality, and turnover in older adults undergoing dietary weight loss. The primary outcome is change in total hip areal BMD measured via DXA. The study involves 392 participants aged 60+ with obesity (BMI 30-40 kg/m²) at risk for low BMD.
