The project studies how immune cell activation in visceral adipose tissue affects sepsis outcomes in the elderly, aiming to identify therapeutic targets to reduce sepsis morbidity by understanding impaired lipolysis mechanisms.

Description

This application focuses on the roles of the activation of the immune cells within visceral adipose tissue during sepsis in the elderly. We investigate how inflammasome activated-macrophages and adipose B cells contribute to impaired lipolysis during sepsis. The cellular signaling mechanisms that are identified will provide new therapeutic targets to reduce morbidity to septic infection in the elderly.
