Research project funded by the National Institute on Aging to investigate oxidative stress pathways and microglial dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease, aiming to develop therapeutic interventions.
Description
This project aims to analyze human Alzheimer's disease cases and animal models to discover unique oxidative stress pathways, explore microglial biology and dysfunction, and understand mechanisms of cell adhesion and phagocytosis in the context of Alzheimer's disease. The goal is to identify how oxidation causes microglial dysfunction and develop interventions to prevent or inhibit detrimental effects.
