Description

This project aims to elucidate the roles of histone methylation in stem cell differentiation and development, with potential implications for regenerative medicine and understanding developmental biology. The research will define the regulatory role of methylation at two key histone residues, H3K9 and H3K36, in directing differentiation, both in vitro and in vivo. The approach uses lysine-to-methionine (K-to-M) mutations on histone H3 to study the function of methylation on H3K9 and H3K36 during developmental transitions.
