The award funds a project to adapt and test a physical activity intervention specifically designed to prevent frailty and functional decline in older women living with HIV, using a community-engaged approach and a randomized controlled trial to evaluate effectiveness and implementation outcomes.

Description

This project will adapt the evidence-based Fit & Strong! program to slow frailty progression and preserve functional independence by integrating group-based strength and physical activity with behavior change strategies tailored for older women living with HIV with mobility impairment. The study will pilot and evaluate the adapted intervention through a randomized controlled trial while assessing feasibility, appropriateness, fidelity, and sustainability, addressing a critical priority in HIV and aging research.
