Description

This project aims to determine how odorless constituents such as sweeteners, synthetic cooling agents, solvents, and synthetic nicotine alter the sensory and addictive properties of nicotine at different ages, and how early intermittent exposure to these constituents affects nicotine use behaviors in adulthood. The study uses adolescent and adult rodents to assess sensory and addictive effects, examines dopamine release, and evaluates interactive effects of these constituents on nicotine use behaviors. The outcomes will inform the FDA about the impact of odorless chemicals on nicotine addiction and the transition from adolescent to adult tobacco use.
