This award funds the development of an innovative CAR T-cell therapy derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to treat AML by preventing complications of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation and targeting AML cells with reduced toxicity and improved efficacy.

Description

Development of a non-toxic, tunable off-the-shelf chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) cell-based immunotherapy to treat acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) using gene-edited human iPSCs producing CD8 T cells designed to avoid rejection and exhaustion while retaining graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) functions.
