The award funds research to identify immune system signatures linked to HIV reservoir characteristics and clonal expansion using advanced single-cell analysis techniques.
Description
This project will examine the relationship between transcriptional signatures in the immune system and the size, expression, and clonal expansion of the HIV reservoir. PBMC samples from 125 people with HIV will be profiled using scRNAseq/CITEseq, along with an HIV integration site assay to determine reservoir clonality. The data will be correlated with known characteristics of the HIV reservoir to reveal connections between residual HIV-infected cells and immune system characteristics.
