Description

This is a multi-Principal Investigator (PI) application renewing the U24 Cooperative Agreement to sustain and expand the NIA’s Alzheimer Clinical Trial Consortium (ACTC). The ACTC conducts academic clinical trials across the continuum of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The consortium leverages expertise from USC, Harvard, Mayo Clinic, and 35 expert AD trial sites. The goal is to develop and conduct high-quality NIH-supported clinical trials in AD and related dementias, utilizing streamlined contracting, centralized IRB, advanced informatics, and innovative trial designs. The project aims to support novel cognitive, imaging, and biomarker outcomes, incorporate exploratory measures like Tau PET imaging, and facilitate rapid assessment of efficacy signals. It emphasizes collaboration across multiple institutions, training for young investigators, and strategic partnerships to conduct large-scale and investigator-initiated studies.
