Description

This project aims to investigate the role of ER stress and UPR in macrophage metabolic reprogramming and fibrosis progression, with potential therapeutic implications. There is no current curative therapy for asbestos-induced fibrosis. Recruited monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs) play a critical role in the pathogenesis of asbestos-induced disease progression. The activation of MDMs depends on their metabolic profile, with metabolic reprogramming being a key feature.
