Description
This project aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying cancer initiation in patients with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) by investigating the role of HMGB1, a protein involved in inflammation and genome maintenance. The study will explore how nuclear HMGB1 depletion in keratinocytes promotes carcinogenesis through inflammation and genome instability, and evaluate small molecule inhibitors of HMGB1 secretion in preventing tumor formation using a mouse model.
