A study funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to investigate how maternal exercise in obese pregnant women affects the metabolism of offspring mesenchymal stem cells, aiming to reduce obesity risk in infants.

Description

This research project will be the first step to understanding the cellular mechanisms, using human umbilical-cord mesenchymal stem cells, of how maternal exercise decreases obesity risk in infants. The study aims to identify how maternal exercise affects offspring cellular metabolism, translating infant cellular metabolic data with whole-body metabolic data across the first year of life.
