Description
This project investigates the regulation of gene expression by the C-terminus of Cav1.3, determines the mechanisms of its regulation of the gene promoter, and explores its therapeutic potential in heart failure using electrophysiological, RNA-seq, biochemical, echocardiography, and histology studies in in-vivo and ex-vivo hearts. The research explores a novel mechanism by which Cav1.3 acts not only as an ion channel but also as a transcription factor via its C-terminus, with potential for developing new therapies for heart failure, particularly for Veterans.
