Description

This research aims to investigate brain differences related to individual vulnerability to oxycodone use disorder using longitudinal multiparametric MRI in genetically heterogeneous rats from the NIDA-funded Rat Oxycodone Biobank. The study will assess baseline brain features and changes following extended oxycodone self-administration, focusing on vulnerability and resilience to addiction-like behaviors. The project will introduce MRI imaging into the research environment, complementing existing genomic and behavioral data, to enhance understanding of individual differences in opioid impact on the brain and inform personalized prevention and treatment strategies.
