This award funds the Duke STAR—AMT program, providing advanced research training in clinical pharmacology, epidemiology, and population health science through an 8-week in-person summer session and an 8-month hybrid mentorship for students and junior faculty.

Description

The proposed Duke Summer Training in Academic Research—Advanced Methods Training (STAR—AMT) program will provide a high-quality research experience for upper-level undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty recruited through 5 research institutions that are partnering in 4 regional hubs across the United States. The program consists of an intensive research experience in a hybrid model, including an 8-week in-person summer session at Duke that requires completing a well-defined research project along with rigorous didactics in clinical pharmacology, epidemiology, and population health science. Trainees will participate in a subsequent 8-month hybrid mentorship to further their research and career development via joint mentorship from Duke and Hub senior faculty mentors.
