Description
This NIH R35 MIRA grant application addresses a fundamental gap in understanding trauma-induced microvascular leakage, a hallmark of the systemic inflammatory response. The long-term goal is to identify novel targets to ameliorate microvascular leakage following traumatic injury, thereby improving trauma patient outcomes. The research will expand knowledge of cellular and molecular signals controlling microvascular permeability, including the effects of alcohol intoxication. The study will utilize RNA-Seq, proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics to analyze experimental models of trauma and tissues from trauma patients, aiming to identify molecules associated with hyperpermeability and develop personalized therapeutic strategies.
