Research project funded by the National Institute on Aging to study norepinephrine synthesis and its impact on cognitive resilience and tau pathology in aging and Alzheimer's disease using advanced imaging techniques.

Description

This project investigates the relationship between norepinephrine synthesis capacity and locus coeruleus structure, and the role of elevated norepinephrine synthesis in cognitive resilience and resistance to tau pathology spread in aging and Alzheimer’s disease. The study employs multimodal imaging techniques including MRI, PET scans with [18F]Fluoro-m-tyrosine and [18F]MK-6240, and plasma Ab42/40 measures.
