Description
This project aims to evaluate and implement a low-barrier hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment program, named MINMON-J, within a statewide jail setting. The program modifies the existing MINMON protocol to include take-home medication and community health worker support for post-release care. The study involves a pilot trial with jailed PWID (People Who Inject Drugs) with HCV mono-infection or co-infection with HIV, focusing on rapid treatment initiation and follow-up post-release. Outcomes include HCV cure rates and implementation metrics, guided by the RE-AIM/PRISM framework. The project addresses a critical public health gap by leveraging jails as intervention points for HCV and HIV treatment among high-risk populations.
