This award funds a neuroimaging project to study brain connectivity alterations in children with reading and math difficulties, focusing on executive function, anxiety, and brain network analysis.

Description

The overall objective of the current project is to determine how brain systems are altered in children and youth who are experiencing difficulties in reading and math. The project will examine connectivity between prefrontal regions and areas involved in reading (left temporo-parietal) and math (right intraparietal sulcus), using functional neuroimaging during tasks. It will also explore how anxiety related to these subjects influences brain connectivity, and will employ graph theory to analyze brain networks during tasks and rest to identify regions critical for distinguishing individuals with and without difficulties.
