Description

This project aims to understand how metalloproteins evolve and adapt to use different metals or none at all, elucidate new enzyme activities in structural scaffolds, and study metalloenzyme superfamilies relevant to biocatalysis and metal trafficking. The research will facilitate enzyme inhibition in bacterial pathogens, use of enzymes in chemical synthesis, and understanding of metal trafficking proteins, with applications in biocatalyst evolution, antibiotic design, and rare-earth extraction.
