Description

The study aims to evaluate the efficacy and mechanisms of a novel manganese porphyrin (MnP) in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease. The research focuses on measuring brain levels of oxidized and reduced low molecular weight thiols, dopaminergic neuron mitochondrial H2O2, and glutathione redox equilibrium in parkin-null flies raised on food supplemented with MnP-05, a new MnP with improved safety and brain-targeting properties. The hypothesis is that MnP-05 will reduce oxidative stress markers, improve survival, motor behavior, and neurodegeneration in the model.
