Description
This study will determine if a baby’s exposure to PFAS during pregnancy decreases birth weight and gestational duration, and increases their risk of adulthood metabolic syndrome, a risk factor for diabetes and heart disease. It assesses the impact of prenatal PFAS exposure on birth weight, gestational age, early adiposity rebound, childhood BMI, and risk of metabolic syndrome and cardiometabolic components in mid-adulthood. The study uses a prospective cohort from the New England Family Study, measuring 44 PFAS compounds and total PFAS in serum samples, applying advanced biostatistical methods to analyze health outcomes.
