The Oncopathology Training Program is a renewal award to train postdoctoral researchers in cancer pathology, focusing on diagnostic innovations and translational research to improve cancer diagnosis and therapy.
Description
This is a renewal application for a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Institutional Research Training (T32) program to train postdoctoral researchers in the field of oncopathology, defined as research to improve our understanding of cancer pathogenesis and pathobiology, and in doing so build a foundation for refining cancer diagnoses and nominating new therapeutic strategies. The overall goal of the Oncopathology Training Program (OTP) is to provide research training opportunities in cancer pathology, from basic to translational and clinical research. We emphasize diagnostic innovations (e.g., studying human biospecimens with emerging tools in spatial, computational, and digital pathology, and approaches that rely on artificial intelligence and single cell and single molecule technologies) and research strategies that derive insights from true-to-life experimental models of human disease, approaches that are increasingly important in cancer research and where academic pathologists are particularly well positioned to make impactful contributions.
