Administrative Core

The Administrative Core award supports the COBRE Host-pathogen Interactions Center by providing centralized administrative and financial resources, funding pilot projects, and facilitating scientific collaboration to promote research growth and sustainability in host-pathogen immune modulation.

Description

The goal of the Administrative Core is to promote the growth and success of the COBRE Host-pathogen Interactions (HPI) by consolidating, centralizing, and managing all necessary resources. To ensure success of researchers and promote long-term program growth and sustainability, the Core will provide administrative and financial support for all components of the Center’s activities. Activities include providing administrative and fiscal support for the Imaging, Histopathology, Flow Cytometry, and Computational Data Analysis Cores and their training activities; funding a Pilot Project Program to support host-pathogen investigators focusing on new research areas including clinical and translational research; facilitating scientific interactions through annual symposium and seminar series. Oversight and evaluation will be conducted via regular progress meetings and semiannual reviews. The approach aims at sustainability through systematic evaluation of fee-for-service models, increased grant returns, and future Core consolidation planning. These activities will strengthen the Center, enhance visibility, and support innovative research into immune modulations in host-pathogen interactions. Successful completion will elevate the Center to a nationally recognized level, especially with recent funding for Phase 3 Epigenetics COBRE and the Phase I Clinical Translational Research Center, TRANSCEND.
