Description
The project aims to discover new antimicrobials for multi-drug resistant tuberculosis by using a combined computational and experimental strategy involving CRISPR technology and non-targeted metabolomics to perform high-throughput functional annotations of anti-TB compounds with unknown modes of action. This includes building a metabolic response database of Mtb to gene knockdowns, transcription factor overexpression, and growth inhibitors, categorizing drug actions, generating hypotheses about drug modes of action, and validating hits, as well as functionally annotating genes with unknown functions in M. tuberculosis.
