The award supports a project to reduce burnout among VA primary care providers by assessing burnout drivers, developing tailored interventions using evidence-based quality improvement, and evaluating their effectiveness in multiple VA medical centers and clinics.
Description
This project uses mixed methods to assess burnout and its drivers among VA primary care providers and staff, develop tailored burnout reduction interventions via evidence-based quality improvement (EBQI), and evaluate their feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness in a pilot stepped wedge design across five VA medical centers and community outpatient clinics in VISN 22. The project aims to understand facility- and clinic-level burnout drivers, develop interventions using stakeholder engagement and EBQI, and assess their impact. It also provides mentorship and training in primary care models, implementation science, organizational research, and qualitative methods.
