This project aims to characterize viral factors and host defense mechanisms that influence HIV-1 rebound, including the role of IFN-I resistance, viral determinants, and the provenance of rebound viruses. The research goals include assessing the universality, kinetics, and clinical impact of IFN-I resistance during rebound, defining viral determinants of IFN-I resistance and host interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs), and tracing the provenance of IFN-I resistant rebound viruses.
