Research project funded by NIDDK to study urothelium's protective role in kidney health during urinary tract obstruction, aiming to develop diagnostics and therapies.

Description

This project investigates the role of urothelium in protecting the kidney from obstructive nephropathy caused by urinary tract obstruction (UTO) during fetal development. The research aims to define urothelial injury as a driver of nephropathy, explore pharmaceutical enhancers of Uroplakin+ cell generation as therapeutic options, and evaluate urothelial proteins as diagnostic biomarkers in mice and children.
