Description
This project investigates the influence of adipose tissue and obesity on the severity of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL). The hypothesis is that adipokines, lipid profiles, and leucocyte infiltration in adipose tissue are associated with inflammatory response-mediated tissue damage and disease severity. The study aims to characterize inflammatory infiltrates in adipose tissue from obese CL patients, analyze lipid profiles, and explore how lipids can reprogram macrophages towards a wound healing phenotype. The goal is to understand how adipose tissue interacts with inflammatory responses, affecting disease outcomes and therapeutic failure rates.
