Description

This project aims to develop mouse models expressing red fluorescent protein (RFP)-based indicators, characterize them, and make them available to the scientific community. The models will enable imaging of intracellular processes such as calcium activity and membrane potential, which are challenging with current green fluorescent protein (GFP)-based models due to phototoxicity and autofluorescence. The approach involves using CRISPR-based genome engineering to swap GFP for RFP in a well-studied transgenic mouse strain. The models will be suitable for crossing with Cre driver mice to study various cell types.
