A research project funded by the National Institute of Mental Health to investigate estrogen's role in neuroprotection and inflammation in Restrictive Eating Disorders, using neuroimaging and biomarker analysis, with the goal of improving clinical outcomes and developing new therapies.

Description

This project studies the impact of estrogen deficiency and replacement on neuroinflammation and brain barrier function in Restrictive Eating Disorders (R-EDs) using a randomized controlled trial. It aims to increase understanding of neuroinflammation in R-EDs and facilitate development of novel therapeutic targets, supporting Dr. Lauren Breithaupt's development as an independent translational scientist.
