Research project funded by NINDS to study the role of FKBP51 in tau protein accumulation and neuropsychiatric symptoms in Alzheimer's disease using transgenic mouse models.

Description

This project will use transgenic mouse models to determine if removing or inhibiting FKBP51 can be protective against tau accumulation. It will also study whether mice with this risk variant are more vulnerable to neuropsychiatric symptoms. The work aims to validate FKBP51 as a target and characterize the molecular landscape associated with vulnerability to neuropsychiatric symptoms in tauopathies.
